Product Origin
Playground Servicing is an engineered wood fiber that is 100% natural. It is made from virgin hardwood fiber that is a by-product from the wood products industry. No timber is harvested to specifically manufacture Playground Servicing. No wood waste or pallets are used as they could contain wood preservatives, spilled chemicals, paint, metals, or plastics.
Product Specification
Playground Servicing is engineered to:
- Meet and exceed the Head Impact Criteria (HIC) set forth by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) under the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) method ASTM 1292-99 .
- Meet and exceed the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirement for wheelchair accessibility set forth in ASTM standard F1951-99 for the Determination of Accessibility of Surface Systems.
- Conform to the particulate sizing standard ASTM F2075-01a to be implemented by ASTM in 2003. The particle sizing also allows the product to interlock and form a wood mat that is resistant to wind and rain displacement.
- Be environmentally friendly. Playground Servicing is made of 100 % virgin hardwood fiber that is a by-product of the wood products industry. No timber is harvested to specifically manufacture Playground Servicing . It will contain no waste wood or pallet that may contain contaminants, which include wood preservatives (i.e. Chromate Cooper Arsenate), spilled chemicals, paint, metals, paper, or plastics.
Playground Servicing Maintenance Recommendations
Daily:
Inspect playground area daily for foreign material (rocks, branches, trash, etc.).
Weekly:
- Weekly inspection in high traffic areas (under swings, slide landings, etc.) should be raked in to maintain a level play surface. A level surface is necessary for wheelchair access and compliance with ADA regulations.
- Check Playground Servicing depth in all play structure use zones, ensure depth is sufficient for fall height of the structure.
- Playground Servicing depth at structure footers should be maintained at a depth of 12”.
- Visually inspect play area for trip hazards. Cover corners of kick mats with Playground Servicing.
- During extended dry periods it may be necessary to wet the surface of Playground Servicing.
- Proper drainage is very important in any play area. Proper steps should be taken to ensure water does not remain in play area for extended periods. Consult a professional for any drainage issues prior to installation.
Note: Always refer to the CPSC Handbook for Public Playground Safety for playground specifications. |
